As our youth are consistently spending more time on devices for education and work it is important to take care of your cervical health. As a result, our youth tend to suffer from headaches, stiff necks, and sharp pain in between the shoulder blades. Although it doesn’t sound like a serious problem, repercussions of ignoring your cervical health can include wearing out discs in your spine even going as far as requiring surgical treatment.

“It is estimated that 75% of the world’s population is hunched over their handheld devices daily with their heads flexed forward,” David et al. 2. As more of our world is becoming digital, we find a rise of youth in crisis. An entire generation of individuals is developing tech necks from school, gaming, and even some who work. Virtually anyone who spends hours on a device can have neck pain and it’s so important to understand how to strengthen your neck.

Our necks are composed of muscles, and just like any other part of your body, it needs to be exercised. NeckX® has created a device that helps you easily stretch and strengthen your neck to alleviate the pain associated with tech neck. The NeckX® increases strength, flexibility, range of motion, and endurance while helping to stretch cervical muscles so that oxygenated blood flows freely to those sore muscles.

NeckX® is a lightweight, portable device that allows the user to quickly change from targeting one muscle group to the next quickly changing from targeting one muscle group to the next. “When you’re working on a computer or looking down at your phone, the muscles in the back of the neck have to contract to hold your head up,” Dr. Riew, Och Spine at NewYork Presbyterian.1 Neck pain not only impacts surrounding muscles such as your shoulders but also your head and spine. These are delicate systems in your body as your brain is vital for functioning, and your spine gives your body support. Damaging the disks that cushion vertebrae are dangerous to your musculoskeletal system, so taking care of your cervical health also includes taking care of your spine. Our bodies are connected through muscles and nerves and neglecting one portion could be serious for the rest of your body. “Untreated tech neck could even cause permanent damage to your cervical spine. Over time, you can develop nerve compression and herniated discs in your cervical spine, all from the long-term effects of poor posture,” Life Spring Chiropractic. 3

Our mission is to help educate and improve our youth’s posture and health. By addressing neck pain, we are one step closer to starting the healing process. The NeckX® device increases strength, flexibility, range of motion, and endurance. We support cervical health, recovery, and education as it is becoming a more common issue.
